“Modern Ruin” è l’ultimo capitolo dell’epica avventura nel tempo e nello spazio dei Covenant. Mai una band aveva così consistentemente riferito il proprio immaginario all’essere in movimento in un viaggio, sia fisico che mentale, all’esplorazione dello sconosciuto. Ed ancora una volta fanno ritorno con meravigliose storie da raccontarci. “Modern Ruin” è il 7° album dei Covenant: un lamento romantico per un epoca di ottimismo infondato, archeologia futuristica, la percezione che il destino è imminente, uno sfrontato commento sullo stato del mondo moderno … queste le tematiche che permeano i testi dell’album. E mentre ci addentriamo per cercare le risposte scopriamo che c’è molto da scoprire tra le moderne rovine di questa civiltà e veniamo presi a pugni dai ritmi convulsi, fuorviati da melodie rassicuranti, annegati nel rumore statico di macchine furiose, confusi dalle contraddizioni. Ma mai completamente persi. Ci sono anche tratti familiari. Forse non appaiono esattamente come al solito, ma sono abbastanza familiari da garantire una navigazione sicura … L’album è disponibile anche in edizione limitata digipak con bonus CD contenente 6 differenti versioni del brano dalla colonna sonora del film tedesco “Wir sind die Nacht” (We are the Night), selezionato per lo scorso Festival di Cannes, e 2 brani inediti.
